Lampasas ISD, City Council incumbents keep seats; Lometa council has turnover
Crow garnered 466 votes on Saturday to Hensley's 370. "I am excited to finish what we started. We worked hard to get the bond issue passed, and I wanted to get to see the construction finished," said Crow. The Place 7 seat of Board President James Briggs was uncontested. Briggs received 628 votes. Numbers for the Lampasas ISD show 544 took advantage of early voting. In the Lampasas City Council race, Place 4 incumbent Wanda Bierschwale successfully held onto her seat, defeating challenger Dayton Carpenter by just four votes. Mrs. Bierschwale tallied 210 votes to Carpenter's 206. Les Gerhardt, Place 5, and Debbie Fuller, Place 3, were unchallenged and garnered 316 and 268 votes, respectively. Though Gerhardt will serve another term, Mrs. Fuller announced she will step down this month, and the City Council will pick a successor.
"I look forward to completing some of the projects we started, such as the civic center and schools. I am really excited to be a part of that." Lometa City Council had a big turnover as two of its members lost their re-election bids. Incumbents George Watson and Kyle Walton -- who was appointed to fill a vacancy -- both lost. Watson polled just 12 votes, while Walton received 34. Cynthia Kirby, also an incumbent, garnered 35 votes to keep her spot on the council. Those successfuly seeking at-large council seats include Betty Poe, who garnered the most votes with 40; Mario Maldonado, who received 36 votes; and Chuck Lymber, who polled 35 votes. Mayor David Ivey, who was unchallenged, garnered 42 votes.
Twenty Lometa residents voted early in the election, and 40 more cast ballots Saturday.
