Cattle Auction

The report from the April 30 sale at Lampasas Cattle Auction is as follows.

Cattle and calves: Estimated receipts 543 compared to 440 last week and 339 last year. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers steady; slaughter cows and bulls steady.

Bulk supply medium and large frame 1-2, 250-750 lb. feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 15 percent of the offering, slaughter bulls 5 percent, replacement cows 10 percent, and feeders 70 percent. Feeder supply included 51 percent steers and 49 percent heifers. Near 48 percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.

Feeder steers: medium and large frame 1, 200-300 lbs., $124- $132; 300-400 lb., $115-$129; 400-500 lb., $109-$116; 500-600 lb., $105-$114; 700-800 lb. yearlings, $102-$103.50.

Medium and large frame 2, 200-300 lb., $106-$116; 300-400 lb., $94-$113; 400-500 lb., $100- $113; 500-600 lb., $93-$107; 700- 800 lb. yearlings, $91-$93.

Heifers: medium and large frame 1, 300-400 lb., $105-$116; 400-500 lb., $99-$111, couple to $118; 500-600 lb., $93-$107; 600- 700 lb., $89-$100.

Medium and large frame 2, 300-400 lb., $93-$105; 400-500 lb., $92-$100; 500-600 lb., $88- $93.

Medium and large frame 3, 300-400 lb., $77-$80; 400-500 lb., $78-$90; 500-600 lb., $82-$88.

Slaughter cows: boners, 80-85 percent lean, 1,200-1,600 lb., average dressing, $45-$55, high dressing $58-$59 lb.; boners, 80- 85 percent lean, 1,000-1,200 lb., average dressing, $48-$55

Slaughter bulls: yield grade 1-2, 1,150-2,025 lb., $60-$68; high dressing, 1,700-1,950 lb., $71-$72.50.

Replacement cows: medium and large 1-2, young to middle aged 900-1,200 lb. cows, 5 to 6 months bred, $685-$760 per head.

Cow/calf pairs: medium and large 1-2, young to middle aged 900-1,300 lb. cows w/100-250 lb. calves, $750-$1020 per pair.
