Children's Advocacy Center set to offer training series

The Hill Country Children's Advocacy Center, created to minimize the trauma of child abuse victims, is offering a series of training opportunities to educate, inform and build communities.

"The intent is to have this training series empower our communities to detect, intervene and prevent victimization of children," said Doris Graeter, case manager.

In Lampasas, training will be May 20 at First Texas Bank.

The free training session will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The topic is multidisciplinary response to child maltreatment.

Speakers will include Lampasas County/District Attorney Larry Allison; Burnet Police Chief Paul Nelson; Mikey Betancourt, HCCAC forensic interviewer; and staff from Texas Department of Family Protective Services.

The Hill Country Children's Advocacy Center partners with a number of agencies, including Lampasas Police Department, Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services in Lampasas, Lampasas County Sheriff's Department, Lampasas district attorney's office, CASA of the Highland Lakes Area and Lampasas Adult Probation.
