Team roping set to raise money for breast cancer
When cowboys and cowgirls arrive at Circle T Arena just west of Hamilton today for the Sweetest Loop, among them will be some of the biggest names in team roping to help raise money for breast cancer research and women's health.
There will be plenty of opportunities for non-ropers to participate, including watching the roping events, golf, meals, dances and auctions.
Today, Circle T is hosting the Sweetest Swing, a benefit two-person open golf scramble at Perry Country Club, followed by a Texas beach party at 5 p.m. at Circle T.
On Saturday, spectators can watch four rounds of open roping, followed by a Pro-Am open short-and-go, and then three rounds of # 11.
From 1-3 p.m., Hamilton Healthcare System is offering a mini-health fair at the arena to include information on breast health, reproductive health, heart health, bone health, diabetes, skin health, age-appropriate exercises, walking programs, family exercises, body mass index, the importance of water, nutrition, calorie counting, violence against women and smoking cessation. Testing will be offered for glucose, cholesterol, CEA and Ca125, as well as PSA tests for men. A self-defense demonstration is set for 1 p.m, and skin (mole) exams are to be offered from 2-3 p.m. At 5 p.m., Circle T will be the site of a gala Mexican fiesta to include dinner, silent and live auctions and a dance.
Admission to team roping events is free.
