      The Briggs Volunteer Fire Department will have a barbecue, auction and live music Saturday beginning at 6 p.m. Pauline Reese will headline the event, and Jarrett Schaub from Lampasas also will perform. Tickets are $8 for food only, and $20 for food and entertainment.

Live play to be shown at church
      School Creek Baptist Church's sanctuary will be the site for a presentation of "Smoke on the Mountain Homecoming," a live play staged by the Hamilton Civic Theatre. The event is May 25. A covered dish meal will be served on the church grounds at 12:30 p.m., followed by the play at 2 p.m.
