Early voting under way Early voting for Lampasas City Council, Lometa City Council and Lampasas Independent School District elections continues through May 6, with the election day set for May 10. Following is a listing of candidates. Lampasas City Council: Up for election are the seats of Debbie Fuller, Place 3; Wanda Bierschwale, Place 4; and Les Gerhardt, Place 5. All three incumbents have filed for their seats, and Dayton Carpenter has filed to run for Mrs. Bierschwale's place. Mrs. Fuller has announced she will step down in May, and the City Council will pick a successor. Early voting is at the County Elections Administrator's Office, 412 S. Live Oak during the following hours: Today and Wednesday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Thursday, Friday, Monday and May 6, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Lometa City Council: Positions on the ballot include those of the mayor, held by David Ivey who was appointed after the death of Mike McGarry, and the at-large seats of Cynthia Kirby, George Watson and Toni Torres. The seat filled by Kyle Walton when Ivey was appointed mayor also is up for election. Ivey has filed for the mayor's post, and Walton, Watson and Mrs. Kirby have filed for their seats. They are being challenged by Mario Maldonado, Betty Poe and Chuck Lymber. Mrs. Torres did not file for reelection. Early voting is at the City Administration Building as follows: Today, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Wednesday and Thursday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Friday, Monday and May 6, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Lampasas ISD Board of Trustees: Seats to be filled in May include Place 6, Wesley Crow, and Place 7, James Briggs. Both filed for re-election. Former board member Luther Hensley filed to run against Crow for Place 6. Early voting is at the County Elections Administrator's Office, 412 S. Live Oak, at these times: Today and Wednesday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Thursday, Friday, Monday and May 6, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Kempner City Council and Lometa ISD will not hold elections as all seats are unchallenged. On election day, voters in the city of Lampasas may cast ballots at First United Methodist Church in Lampasas, 2 Alexander. Those in the following precincts who wish to cast ballots in the LISD election also may do so at the Lampasas church on May 10: Lampasas County Precincts 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 9; Burnet County Precincts 11, 14, 15 and 16; Bell County Precincts 401 and 402; and Coryell County Precincts 105, 108 and 116. Lampasas County Precinct 1, 8 and 10 voters may cast ballots for LISD candidates at the Kempner Fire Department Training Center, 315 S. Pecan. |
