Pretrial hearing set for May 30 in murder case In recent 27th District Court action with Judge Joe Carroll presiding, John Robert Martinez, 28, of Copperas Cove is set for a May 30 pretrial hearing for capital murder. Martinez is charged in the death of 31-year-old Copperas Cove resident Hidi Gower, whose body was discovered last July at the Kempner VFW in east Lampasas County. He remains in the Lampasas County Jail on a $1 million bond. Mrs. Gower was the victim of an alleged murder-for-hire plot instigated by her husband, Donald Dean Gower, 39, of Copperas Cove, who also is charged with capital murder. In other court proceedings, Adam Blake Hobill, 28, of Copperas Cove was sentenced to six years' probation and a $1,000 fine for driving while intoxicated and felony repetition. He also was ordered to serve 10 days in the Lampasas County Jail and pay court costs. Six years' deferred adjudication probation was given to Louise Hart Rivera, 21, of Killeen for tampering with evidence. She also was ordered to attend Alcoholics Anonymous and pay a $500 fine. Kempner resident Ali Hussein Ibrahim, 19, was given five years' deferred adjudication probation and a $1,000 fine for graffiti. He also must pay $2,000 restitution and attend counseling. On a charge of possession of a controlled substance, cocaine, Nicholas Darrell Harvin, 27, given four years' deferred adjudication probation and a $1,500 fine. Also receiving four years' deferred adjudication probation was Zachary Bothof, 24, of Lampasas on a charge of misapplication of trust funds (property code). He also must pay a $1,000 fine and $2,104 in restitution. Leona Ruth Garner, 24, is set for an adjudication announcement today. She is charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver with a deadly weapon. Steven Eugene Daulton, 48, is set for a pretrial hearing today for forgery. Scott Anthony Gunn, 36, faces a jury trial Monday for sexual assault of a child. Pretrial hearings are on the May 9 docket for Phillip Edward Ramirez, 29, of Lampasas on a charge of driving while intoxicated and felony repetition; James Ryan Crowley, 24, for sexual assault of a child under 17; Patricia Michelle Maynard, 33, of Marble Falls for possession of a chemical with intent to manufacture; Shaun Keone Spencer, 19, of Killeen for possession of a controlled substance, cocaine; Cheri Downing Spencer, 40, of Waco for possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine; and Claudio Nieto Barnes, 36, of Killeen for possession of a controlled substance, cocaine. May 12 jury trials are scheduled for Armando Rosales, 29, on a charge of criminal mischief over $1,500 and under $20,000; and John Ebon Woodruff, 34, for illegal dumping: disposal. Mary Lou Plumley, 47, faces one count of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine and one count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. She will be sentenced May 30. For her charge of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, Kempner resident Rachel Ann Byrd, 32, is set to enter a plea May 30. A presentence investigation was ordered. A presentence investigation also was ordered for Mark Anthony Lujan, 31, for aggravated assault/threat with a deadly weapon. He is slated to enter a plea June 6. Alicia Rae Lewis, 30, faces a June 6 plea on her charge of endangering a child. A presentence investigation was ordered. Other June 6 pleas are set for Gerald Dee Brown, 42, of Kempner for possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine and Sontaya Pelletier Vrankovich, 19, of Copperas Cove for theft over $1,500 and under $20,000. Presentence investigations were ordered for each. A pretrial hearing is on the June 6 docket for Richard Guy Jensen, 44, of Copperas Cove. He is charged with aggravated threat/ assault with a deadly weapon. A June 9 jury trial is slated for Curtis Byron Crumley III, 21, of Lampasas for criminal mischief with a deadly weapon. A review is set June 20 for Rhonda Lanette Kolanek, 35, of Arlington on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. Jury trials are scheduled July 28 for Wesley Gene Talbert, 29, of Lampasas for possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine; Christina Nichole Bruton, 22, for sexual assault of a child under 17; and Mary Anne Curington, 52, of Burnet for possession of a chemical with intent to manufacture. The state withdrew two motions to revoke for 23-year-old Brian Holstein. The Lampasas resident is charged with burglary of a building and possession of a controlled substance. |
