Collision sends woman to hospital

A two-vehicle collision Monday afternoon at the entrance to Jim Hoffpauir Inc. sent a Lampasas woman to Rollins Brook Community Hospital.

Stacey Dickens, driving a 1998 Mazda 2500 pickup, attempted to turn left into Hoffpauir at about 4 p.m. and did not see Georgetown resident Ben Mereness traveling south in the outside lane of Key Avenue.

Mereness, driving a 2008 Saturn Aura rental car, braked and turned to the left but could not avoid Miss Dickens. The two vehicles collided, and the pickup slid to the left after being hit in the right side.

One of the pickup's back wheels hit the curb, which caused the vehicle to flip onto its top. The vehicle spun several times before stopping with the front of the vehicle facing east, according to witnesses.

Capital Ambulance transported Miss Dickens to Rollins Brook for treatment of possible injuries. Mereness was unhurt. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
