Lampasas teen wins speech contest

At the recent 80th Texas Garden Club Spring Convention in Killeen, Trevor McGuire, a Lampasas High School junior, was awarded first-place honors in youth communications for his speech on the environment.

LHS senior Tiffany Landers earned an honorable mention for her essay.

In other club news, a brief meeting was held in March at the fellowship hall of Clear Creek Baptist Church. Margaret Hoke gave members instruction on preparing horticulture exhibits for the spring show set Saturday at the hall, FM 2657.

The show will be open to the public from 2-4 p.m. There is no admission fee.
