Museum exhibit honors public servants
Keystone Square Museum has opened its exhibit of historic and recent objects and memorabilia related to Lampasas police and fire departments. The exhibit, "Our Public Servants: Firemen and Policemen Through Lampasas History," will remain open through July.
Also on view are antique toys and collectibles loaned from Robert Reed's collection, including a child-size police cycle and fire truck. Children may be photographed when they visit the exhibition.
A drawing will be held for a donated fire mark (a sign that was posted on a house or building indicating up-to-date insurance and thus guaranteeing service from a fire department). Interested persons should register, and the winner will be contacted at the conclusion of the exhibit.
Visitors also can see historic photographs of firemen and policemen at work, as well as some of the early tools used by night watchmen and patrolmen.
The exhibit was organized by Carol Wright with assistance from Police Chief Tim Angermann, Lt. Investigator Jody Cummings, Reed and members of the Lampasas police and fire departments.
Museum admission is free. Hours are Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., or by scheduling an appointment at 556-2224.
