Library Foundation benefit exceeds group's expectations

Co-workers, patrons honor retiring Kempner postmaster
      Longtime Kempner postmaster Penne Reagey recently was honored with a going-away party and an awards presentation. Ms. Reagey retired after heading the Kempner post office for the past 15 years. Previous to that, she served as a postmaster in Massachusetts for a number of years.

Citywide garage sale slated
      Courtyard Square Association's first Citywide Garage Sale of the year will be Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Courtyard Square. More than 70 booths are available. Cost is $30 per space and $35 for food booths. Funds raised will be used for improvements in the historic downtown area.

LHS cheerleaders offer parties as special fund-raising event
      Incoming Lampasas High School freshman cheerleaders are offering cheerleading birthday parties on Saturdays through May 22. Three freshmen cheerleaders will teach one cheer and one chant, and the birthday girl will receive a T-shirt and pompons.

      Lampasa High School ag mechanics student Samantha Sparger built this stand in class for her father's use while he is deployed to Iraq. It is used to store service gear after returning from patrol-combat operations.
