Mr. Mallett
He was interred in Pleasant Hill Cemetery after a graveside service April 20. Mr. Mallett was born in Burnet County on May 29, 1936, the youngest of three children of Nane Bernard and Ruby Estelee Mallett. He held two jobs for decades. During the week, his career would take him from real estate development to telecommunications, but his love of ranching filled the weekends. In 1954, he graduated from Burnet High School and enrolled in John Tarleton College that September. On Sept. 3, 1955, Mr. Mallett married his wife, LaWanna. They started their family in Fort Worth then moved back to Burnet County in 1970 to rear their children. Mr. Mallett entered into a ranching partnership with his brother, Odell Mallett, and together they worked the family's third-generation farm near Bethel, where they sowed grain, hauled hay and worked livestock. He attended Lake Victor Church of Christ. His survivors include his wife; two daughters, Theresa Morgan of Burnet, and Kay and her husband, Steve Jarvis, of Denver; a son, Don Mallett of El Campo; seven grandchildren, Justin, Calais, Carrie and Parker Morgan, Lauren Mallett, and Nathan and Marin Jarvis; one brother, Odell Mallett of Burnet; a sister, Ruby Lee Sultemeir of Lampasas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be sent to Pleasant Hill Cemetery Association, c/o Dortha Collins, 1615 FM 2340, Lampasas, TX 76550; Rice Lake Church of Christ, 103 Reuter Ave., Box 3, Rice Lake, WI 54868; or Cherokee Home for Children, P.O.
