VOLLEYBALL CAMP

Lampasas High School senior Davina Hirst is hosting the 2008 Lampasas Volleyball Camp on April 26 at the old LHS gymnasium.

Hirst was a libero and defensive specialist for the Lady Badgers last fall. She signed to play at Hill College in Hillsboro next season.

The camp is open to players who will be in the sixth, seventh or eighth grade next school year and costs $20 per player. The one-day camp runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a 30-minute break at 11:15 a.m. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. A percentage of the proceeds will be donated to LHS to help buy new equipment.

Hirst will teach proper technique for serving, passing, hitting and setting. She also will discuss teamwork and the importance of trust between teammates.

RUNNING

The Youth Ministry of First United Methodist Church is hosting a 5K Faith Race on May 3 at Kline Whitis Elementary School.

The fund-raiser will benefit the youth program.

The registration fee is $20 and can be paid on the day of the race or by visiting www.lampasasmethodist.com.
