The Lampasas High School baseball team went on the road and beat Pflugerville Connally, 8-7, in extra innings on March 20, but the Cougars returned the favor on Tuesday night, knocking off the Badgers, 13-8, in a wild game at Badger Field.

The loss dropped the Badgers to 2-10 in District 25- 4A play and mathematically eliminated them from playoff contention.

The Badgers outhit the Cougars, 11-10, but they committed six errors.

"We hit the ball well, probably as well as we've hit the ball all year," LHS head coach Brian McBeth said. "That's a game we needed to win."

Junior Seth Fry started the game on the mound and gave up eight hits and seven earned runs in 3.1 innings. Cody Bailey relieved him, allowing two hits and five earned runs while striking out seven in 4.1 innings.

After Connally took a 5-0 lead in the first inning, the Badgers chipped away, cutting the lead to 8-6 in the fourth, but a three-run Connally fifth gave the Cougars plenty of cushion.

Three Badgers recorded multi-hit games, and shortstop Justin Rainwater drove in three runs. Ryan Abbott went 3 for 5 with a run scored and two stolen bases. Kyle Landry went 2 for 3, including a solo home run over the fence in left-center field, and Stetson Magilke went 2 for 3 with two runs scored and one driven in.

Fry finished 1 for 1 with a run scored, and Cody Singleton finished 1 for 3 with an RBI and a stolen base.

Rainwater plated three runs with a two-run single in the first inning and an RBI-groundout in the sixth.

Catcher Coleton Lucas scored twice and drove in a run with an RBI triple in the sixth.
