Hoops coach wants to spend more time with son

      The only dribbling Mitzi Lancaster wants to worry about for a while is whatever is dribbling out of her infant son Cash's mouth at feeding time. After four years as the head girls' basketball coach at Lampasas High School, Lancaster stepped down this week to focus on her growing family.

      The Lampasas High School baseball team went on the road and beat Pflugerville Connally, 8-7, in extra innings on March 20, but the Cougars returned the favor on Tuesday night, knocking off the Badgers, 13-8, in a wild game at Badger Field.

      VOLLEYBALL CAMP Lampasas High School senior Davina Hirst is hosting the 2008 Lampasas Volleyball Camp on April 26 at the old LHS gymnasium. Hirst was a libero and defensive specialist for the Lady Badgers last fall. She signed to play at Hill College in Hillsboro next season.

      The Lampasas Toughest 10,000 in Texas is set for July 12. The annual race will feature runners from all over the state running in the 6.2-mile and one-mile events. The top male and female finishers in each race are recognized.
