Riata Roundup Rodeo scheduled June 20-21 An event that continues to gain popularity is the annual chamber-sponsored Lampasas Riata Round-up. This year's rodeo will be June 20-21. Held at Little Bear Ranch's rodeo arena on U.S. Highway 281, the riata draws cowboys and cowgirls from all over the state. Several hours of rodeo action feature events such as bareback bronc riding, calf roping, team roping, steer wrestling, ladies' breakaway roping, barrel racing and bull riding. Kids can join in the fun with stickhorse races, mutton busting, dummy roping, a boot scramble and calf scramble. A Riata Rodeo Queen Contest is held each year, open to girls ages 14-19.
