Festival's Bar-B-Que event on tap The Lampasas County Chamber of Commerce and the Bar-B-Que Cook-Off Committee each year sponsor the popular Spring Ho Bar-B-Que Cook-Off. This year's event is July 11-12 behind the Lampasas County Office Building. Cookers check in on Spring Ho Friday to fire up their grills for the competition. Categories include appetizers, brisket, pork spareribs, one-half chicken and jackpot pinto beans. A nominal admission fee is charged for visitors on Friday only. Many cookers share their delicacies with visitors. Judging takes place on festival Saturday, and cash awards are given to the top three teams in each category. Grand champion, local bragging rights and showmanship awards are presented. An entry fee is charged per team for any number of categories, with an extra fee to enter jackpot beans.
