Cavs' ace lights-out, blanks Badgers, 6-0

PHOTO BY RICHARD AKRIDGE Lampasas High School shortstop Justin Rainwater takes a throw as a Lake Travis runner slides safely into second base in the Cavaliers' 6-0 win at LHS on Friday. The game was called in the sixth inning because the lights which shine on the right-field line malfunctioned.
In a battle between two of District 25-4A's most dominant pitchers, Lake Travis senior and University of Arizona commit Brad Dydalewicz got the best of Lampasas ace Kyle Landry Friday night at Badger Field.

Lake Travis (10-0 in district) topped the Badgers (2-8), 6-0, in a game that was called after five innings because some of the lights down the right-field line failed to come on, even after the lighting system was reset.

Dydalewicz, a lefty who twice hit 94 mph on the radar gun Friday and was consistently throwing 91, allowed three hits and three walks but got out of trouble with 11 strikeouts.

Landry, who came in having allowed just six runs in three district starts, went the distance, allowing six runs on seven hits and striking out five.

Left fielder Seth Fry, first baseman Cody Bailey and Landry each singled off of Dydalewicz, and Bailey and Landry each stole a base. The Badgers loaded the bases with two out in the fourth inning, but Dydalewicz muscled up to strike out Cody Singleton with a 3- 2 fastball to kill the threat.

The Badgers are scheduled to play host to Pflugerville Connally at 7 p.m. today.
