CTCOG to present tokens to communication personnel
Central Texas Council of Governments will deliver tokens of appreciation to regional public service answering points in annual recognition of Telecommunicator Appreciation Week April 14-18. The week is marked by a proclamation signed by Gov. Rick Perry in recognition of all 9-1-1 telecommunicators across the state.
April also was recently adopted by the U.S. Congress as "National 9-1-1 Education Month" in an effort to educate the public on the importance of the 9-1-1 emergency call number system and its appropriate use.
CTCOG staff will deliver tokens to all 9-1-1 telecommunicators to recognize the difficult job they perform on a daily basis as the heroes who support citizens, soldiers and their families 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
Tokens will be delivered to a number of area communicators, including the Lampasas Police Department and Lampasas County Sheriff's Department.
