Couple exchange vows in Dallas church ceremony

Kortney and Justin Taliaferro
Kortney Ann Goodwin and Justin Hayes Taliaferro, both of San Antonio, exchanged wedding vows in an Aug. 18, 2007, ceremony at University Park United Methodist Church in Dallas.

The Rev. Rebecca Frank officiated the double-ring, evening ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Ronnie and Karla Goodwin of Lampasas. She is the granddaughter of Kathryn Ferguson and the late Bill Ferguson of Midwest City, Okla., and the late Sparks and Celeste Goodwin of Lampasas.

The groom is the son of Dr. Donna Taliaferro. He is the grandson of Roy and Hortense Hayes of Poplar Bluff, Minn., and the late Hugh and Doris Taliaferro of Savannah, Ga.

Kathryn E. Johnson was organist, and Lauren Debussy was soloist.

Musical selections included "Wedding Prayer" and "The Lord's Prayer."

The church was lined with stained-glass windows and a beautiful pipe organ at the front.

The bride and groom exchanged vows under a dimly lit chandelier with lighted candles flanking the altar.

The bride was given in marriage by her father.

She chose a strapless Casablanca gown with a semi-sweetheart neckline. The gown's entire bodice, skirt and semi-cathedral train were covered with beadwork.

She wore a fingertip-length veil edged with silver bugle beads. She borrowed a tiara that was worn by her bridesmaid, Julie Jones, on her wedding day.

To complement her gown, the bride carried a pave'-style bouquet with a mixture of white, dark pink and light pink mini-calla lilies with exposed stems in a satin-wrapped handle with pearls.

Maid of honor was Reecie Bobalik of Chicago, Ill.

Bridesmaids were Jenny Borchardt of Rowlett; Kelsi Davis of Lampasas; Allison Martone of Salado; and Julie Jones of Richardson.

Junior bridesmaid was Victoria Taliaferro, the groom's daughter, of San Antonio.

Attendants wore strapless tealength, chocolate European satin bubble dresses with a champagne band to accent the waist.

They carried a smaller version of the bridal bouquet.

The junior bridesmaid wore a chocolate European satin ball gown with a pin-tucked skirt and champagne sash around the waist.

Best man was the groom's brother, Brandon Taliaferro, of Vermillion, S.D.

Groomsmen were Lorenzo Estrada of San Antonio; Mark Macicek of The Woodlands; Paul Haney of Dallas; and Ricky Wood of Philadelphia, Pa.

Junior groomsman was Kade Simons, the bride's cousin, of Edmond, Okla.

Ring bearer was Kruz Simons, cousin of the bride, of Edmond, Okla.

Ushers were Pete Underwood of Providence, R.I.; John Polito of San Antonio; and Tom Tomesko of San Francisco, Calif.

Following the ceremony, a dinner and reception were given by the bride's parents on the 42nd floor of Cityplace with views of downtown Dallas.

Entertainment was provided by pianist David Edwards and A-1 Entertainment. A surprise solo was performed by the bride's aunt, Kerri Ferguson, who sang "You Light Up My Life."

Kerri Ferguson was a member of the houseparty.

The bride's three-tiered, round, white cake had toasted almond buttercream and white chocolate mousse filling with vanilla buttercream icing. The cake was topped with pink roses, and each tier was packed with pink roses.

The groom's cake was a six-tier replica of the Texas A&M Aggie bonfire.

After a scuba diving trip to Costa Rica, the couple is at home in San Antonio.

The bride, a graduate of Texas A&M University with a bachelor of business administration in finance, is a financial analyst for Lockheed- Martin Corp.

The groom graduated from Texas A&M with a bachelor of business administration in marketing. He is a retail wine division manager for E. & J. Gallo Winery.

The groom's mother hosted a rehearsal dinner prior the wedding at Texas Land & Cattle in Dallas.
