      Kortney Ann Goodwin and Justin Hayes Taliaferro, both of San Antonio, exchanged wedding vows in an Aug. 18, 2007, ceremony at University Park United Methodist Church in Dallas. The Rev. Rebecca Frank officiated the double-ring, evening ceremony.

Collins benefit to be held April 26
      A benefit for Chad Collins, son of Brenda and Greg Collins, will be April 26 at First United Methodist Church on U.S. Highway 190. Sales will help defray the cost of Collins' medical expenses for an aggressive form of cancer.

Kempner pet shot clinic deemed successful
      Kempner Volunteer Fire Dept. Chief Dan Hause said the recent pet shot clinic was a successful event. Dr. R. Scott Rushing of Lampasas administered vaccinations to more than 319 dogs and cats -- more than double the amount vaccinated at a previous clinic.
