Mrs. May

Former Lampasas resident Willie C. May, 78, died April 11, 2008, at the home of her daughter in Roosevelt, Okla.

Funeral services will be April 16 at 10 a.m. at the Church of Christ in Roosevelt, with Bill Coffin to officiate. Graveside services are set for 2 p.m. April 17 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lampasas.

Mrs. May was born April 27, 1929, in Lampasas to Tim and Leona Allen Cummins. She graduated from Lampasas High School and married Kenneth D. Lilley on Aug. 6, 1949. He preceded her in death on Sept. 15, 1973.

She worked at the Department of Human Services in Lampasas until her retirement in 1986. She moved to Roosevelt and married Charles C. May on May 31, 1986. Mrs. May's second husband died on Feb. 21, 2006.

She enjoyed sewing, fishing, camping, yard work, watching western movies and travel. Mrs. May also was a member of the Church of Christ in Roosevelt.

Her survivors include a daughter, Karen May, and husband Mickey of Roosevelt; granddaughter Candace Thurmond and husband Joey, also of Roosevelt; and a sister, Lena Belle Henson, and husband Glenn of Lawton, Okla.
