Lady Badgers blast Burnet The Lampasas High School softball team hammered Burnet, 10-0, to pick up a road win. Freshman lefty Taylor Holloman went the distance, allowing three hits and striking out one. Including her last appearance, Holloman has pitched 10.1 consecutive scoreless innings. The Lady Badgers (4-7 in district) will play host to Lake Travis today at 7 p.m. The Lady Badgers beat Lake Travis 4-1 the first times the teams met. Holloman threw strikes and induced ground balls all night. "I told her to go out there and get me 21 ground ball outs, and I'll be happy," LHS head coach Chris Gaffney said. "She pretty much did. The defense played great behind her. (Second baseman) Taryn Brown and (third baseman) Vonzella Underwood had tremendous games." The Lady Badgers cranked out 12 hits. Brown tripled and doubled and drove in three runs, and Marisa Bogart had a two-run double to highlight the attack. With no way to make the playoffs, Gaffney doesn't want to see his team just play out the string. "I'm doing all I can to guard against that, so they'll finish the season strong," he said. |
