U19 Tri-City Express in first place

The U19 Tri-City Express girls improved to 4-0 in CAYSA South Texas Cup League play with two wins last weekend, grabbing sole possession of first place.

The Express handed the U19 Tri- County Flyers a 7-1 whipping at Gavin Garrett Soccer Park on Saturday.

Kelsie Wilcox recorded a hat trick, Angel Waters found the net twice, and River Hooks and Jacky Lovejoy each added tallies. Bonnie Wallace and Liz Hawthorn combined in net for the victory.

On Sunday, the Express topped the Dripping Springs Stars, 2-1, with Wallace recording the win.

Wilcox opened the scoring at the 18-minute mark, chipping a ball over the Stars' keeper. The Stars equalized the game at 1-1 with a goal in the 36th minute. The Express defense -- led by Bree Lindeman, Kassie Carpenter and Brittany Hayes -- held the Stars scoreless for the duration, allowing Wilcox to find the back of the net in stoppage time for the win.
