BURNET - Lampasas High School pitcher Stetson Magilke was on top of his game Tuesday night at Burnet.

The senior threw a complete-game, onehitter, striking out five Bulldogs. Magilke, who walked a season-low four batters, didn't come away with the win, because Burnet pitcher Travis Hoffmeister threw a one-hitter of his own in a 3-0 Bulldog victory.

"It was his best outing of the season," LHS coach Brian McBeth said of Magilke. "He pitched well against Connally (8-7 win), but he was even better tonight."

LHS (5-17 overall, 2-7 in District 25-4A) will play host to Lake Travis tonight, a team that topped the Badgers 3-2 at Lake Travis. Burnet improved to 4-5 in the district loop and maintained slim playoff hopes.

The Bulldogs manufactured runs. Leadoff hitter Brandon Byrd walked twice and turned both of those walks into runs. Grant Martin walked to lead off the fourth and eventually scored. The Bulldogs did not record a hit in any of the three innings in which they scored.

"About 85 percent of leadoff hitters who reach base are going to score," McBeth said.

Justin Rainwater recorded the Badgers' only hit against the Bulldog lefty, placing a ground ball deep in the hole at short and easily beating the throw.

Four Badgers hit the ball hard but came away with nothing but at-bats in the box score. In the third, Nick Cummings lined out to center fielder Kyle Brunson. In the fourth, Cody Bailey and Kyle Landry hit back-to-back line drives to right fielder Byrd, and in the fifth, Coleton Lucas hammered a ball to the gap in left-center, but Brunson got an excellent jump on the ball and tracked it down.
