LMS tennis competes in Cove tourney

The Lampasas Middle School tennis teams participated in the Copperas Cove Invitational last week.

In seventh-grade girls' doubles, Mackenzie Benton/Jenna Jenkins won three of four matches and finished fourth, Rachel McKinney/ Rebecca Keen went 2-1, and Emily Bever/Katie Peterson went 1-1.

In seventh-grade girls' singles, Dakota Barbee went 1-1, and Bonnie Christianson played two tight matches but finished 0-2.

In seventh-grade boys' doubles, the teams of Jonah Cantu/Santiago Lopez and Kenneth McGuire/ Kevan Robertson lost tight matches, and Jeremy Cantu/ Michael Harris went 1-2. In seventh grade boys' singles, Shane Cofield made it to the third round, and Caleb Ukle lost a tight match.

In eighth-grade girls' doubles, Megan Mason/Taylor Brooks went 1-1, losing to the eventual champions from Faith Academy in the second round. Aimee Aviles-Ponce and Hannah Ukle ran into the team from Faith Academy in the first round and finished 0-2 on the day.

In eighth-grade girls' singles, Katie Shaw went 1-2, and Katie Hlavaty lost two close matches.

In eighth-grade boys' doubles, Alvin Aleman/Jacob Ham won their first two matches before losing in a tiebreaker in the third round.

In eighth-grade boys' singles, Zach Holcomb won his first match and finished 1-1, and Alex Moura went 0-2.
