Watson in hunt after 2nd-round 72
Wilkins' 79 pulls her into fifth on girls' side

PHOTOS BY GABE WOLF LHS senior Jonathan Watson carded a 72 on Wednesday at Hancock Park Golf Course to pull into a third-place tie after two rounds of the three-round District 25-4A Tournament.
The Lampasas High School boys' and girls' golf teams completed the first two rounds of the three-round District 25-4A Tournament Wednesday at Hancock Park Municipal Golf Course.

The third and final round will be held at Legends Golf Course in Kingsland on Tuesday. The first round was at Delaware Springs Golf Course in Burnet.

On the boys' side, the Badgers' No. 1 team is currently in fourth place with a two-round total of 624 strokes.

Lake Travis' top grouping is in first at 595, Vista Ridge's top group is in second at 607, and Lake Travis second grouping is in third at 613. Dripping Springs is in fifth, two shots behind the Badgers.

The Badgers' No. 2 group is in 10th place with a total of 674.

The Lady Badgers are in fifth place with a total of 787. Lake Travis is leading the girls' tournament at 625, 101 strokes better than second-place Pflugerville Hendrickson.

Individually, Jonathan Watson put himself back in the race for a district title following his firstround 77 with a blistering 72 on Wednesday. Watson is tied for third place, seven strokes behind leader Adam Wennerstrom of Lake Travis. Wennerstrom followed an opening-round 74 with a brilliant 68 on Wednesday.

Stayton Lindeman is in 24th. His 80 on Wednesday put him at 157 for the tournament.

Colin Scheafnocker shot a 77 Wednesday to pull into 28th place at 158.

Colton Perkins rallied from a first-round 85 to shoot 76 on Wednesday. He is tied for 31st at 161.

Tanner Belanger shot 80 in the first round but fell to 42nd place with an 87 on Wednesday.

Vann Millican moved up to 68th place with an 80 on Wednesday. Millican shot an 88 in the opening round.

Taylor Crawford shot 82 in the first round and 88 in the second and is in 50th place at 170.

Cassandra Wilkins is deep in the hunt for a medal after her second-round 79 left her in fifth place at 160, seven shots out of second place.
Layne Kendrick rebounded from a first-round 95 to shoot 79 on Wednesday and pull into 58th place at 174.

Sean Reed's 87 on Wednesday gave him a two-day total of 176.

Ethan Byers enters the final round at 184, and Ryan Tubbs enters at 195.

In the girls' individual standings, Cassandra Wilkins sits in fifth place at 160 after Wednesday's 79. Lake Travis' Mei Liu is leading the tournament at 145.

Carey Yeary carved six strokes off her opening-round score with a 96 on Wednesday. She sits in 20th place at 198.

Sheridan Gill is in 23rd at 218, Brittany Graham is in 25th at 223, Morgan Savage is in 28th at 227, Chelsea Ragland is in 30th at 236, and Blaire Stoneham is tied for 34th at 261.
