UIL students take district title
Out-distancing its closest rival by well over 100 points -- not including the addition of the school's advancing One-Act Play and all-star point accumulation -- 13 Lometa students advanced to regional competition in Brenham next week. "I am extremely happy that these students continued our school's longstanding tradition of academic excellence and winning the district UIL meet," said David Rice, Lometa ISD superintendent. "They are a committed and hard-working group of young people and I am proud of their success." Regional qualifiers were James Logsdon, Josh Logsdon, Shawnee Odom, Cassidy Wienecke, Alexis Ivey, Jessica Brooks, James Smith, Taylor Bradley, Kylie Bradley, Sam Pauly, Jasmine Vandergriff, Michelle Bearden and Elisha Whisenhunt. The school also claimed team titles in Speaking and Literary Criticism.
