FFA judgers 2nd in area

The Lampasas FFA horse judging team finished second out of 33 teams at the Area 7 FFA Career Development Event Saturday at Texas A&M University.

The team of Shannon O'Keefe, Shannon Lucas, Apryl Crusan and Brandyl Brooks, which also claimed a district title, qualified for the State TDE scheduled for April 19 at Texas Tech University.

The team finished with 1,050 total points, just six points behind first-place Lockhart and four ahead of third-place Comfort.

The scoring system includes totals for judging accuracy in seven categories such as reining and horsemanship and two rounds of questions.

Crusan's individual total of 363 points ranked second overall, and Brooks' 358 was good for seventh.
