Museum contracts for book publishing Keystone Square Museum has signed with Arcadia Publishing to produce a book of historic photographs of Lampasas County. The publisher, based in San Francisco, has offices in Portsmouth, Charleston and Chicago. The museum's book, titled "Lampasas County," will be put into Arcadia's Images of America series, which celebrates the history of neighborhoods, towns and cities across the country. Using archival photographs, each title presents the distinctive stories from the past that shape the character of communities today. The museum's book will span from 1856-1957, or the founding of Lampasas County through the Mother's Day flood. Photographs will be grouped by chapter, including "The Saratoga of the South," "Silk Stocking Row and Beyond," "Places of Worship," "The Badgers, the Hornets and the Eagles," and "Cowboys and Crops." Most of the photographs are in the museum's collection, but several have been loaned by residents throughout the county. The book will contain more than 200 black-andwhite historic photographs with captions. It will sell for $19.99 and should be ready by Spring Ho in July. It will be offered for sale at the museum, through the publisher and at select retail outlets. Keystone Square Museum, at 303 S. Western, is open Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and by appointment. Admission is free. For information, phone 556-2224. ![]() |
