More than 70 entries were on hand for the first Classics at the Classic Car Show March 15 at Lampasas Building Components.

Committee members included Scott and Sharon Carrigan, Danny Britton, Conan and Angela Magilke, Dustin and Crystal Bynum, Butch Ball, Dwayne and Jeannie Wiles, and Lucinda Ybarra. The group has been planning the car show for the past year, with assistance from their children, Jamie, Dyani, Sadie, Stetson, Erica, Ty, Dillon and Denton.

Classics began arriving at 8 a.m. More than 20 award plaques were given. Memorial plaques were presented in honor of Paul Murray, Elmer Clyde Hall, R.G. Hill and Carl Ball.

Hidden Heroes for 2008 were nominated: Bill Bierschwale of Diversified Shop Services; Ralph Darrow of Key Auto Supply; and Jerry Hunt of Copperas Cove. The award went to the top vote-getter George Murgatroyd, an auto shop owner.
