Defense bites Badgers in loss to Hendrickson

Pflugerville Hendrickson jumped out to a 4-0 firstinning lead in large part because of defensive miscues and rolled to a 10-0, five-inning win over Lampasas High School at Badger Field on Tuesday.

The loss, which was marred by 11 Badger errors, comes on the heels of an 8-7 road victory over Pflugerville Connally last Thursday. It drops the Badgers to 1-4 in District 25-4A heading into today's 7 p.m. game at district opponent Cedar Park Vista Ridge.

"The first few innings of every ball game have been crucial for us," LHS coach Brian McBeth said. "If we give ourselves a chance to win, we usually hang in there and play well, but if we don't, it's a long night."

Cody Bailey started the game on the mound, allowing nine runs (six earned) in four innings. He walked three and struck out five. Seth Fry pitched the fifth, allowing an unearned run.

The Badger offense produced just three hits, all singles. Kyle Landry and Coleton Lucas each went 1 for 1 and Nick Cummings finished 1 for 2. Ryan Abbott recorded the Badgers' only stolen base after the team stole 12 bases against Connally.
