Vandals trash building; investigation continues

Lampasas County Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 for anyone who provides information that leads to an arrest and indictment of the suspect or suspects responsible for a recent break-in.

Auxi Health Care was the victim of a heavy dose of vandalism March 19, Sgt. Investigator Charlie Boswell of the Lampasas Police Department said.

A 9-1-1 call came in from the 106 West Avenue B office at about 9 p.m., and the caller then hung up.

Police officers arrived on scene and saw a window on the front door broken out, from which access to the building was gained.

The vandals opened a fire extinguisher and filled the building with its contents, which initially hampered officers from entering.

Once the air cleared, authorities did a sweep of the building to be sure no one was inside.

The place was completely torn up, Boswell said. Vandals emptied shelves onto the floor, scattered contents of file cabinets, flooded the bathroom, poured bottles of soap over electronics equipment and did other damage.

Cost for replacement and cleanup will exceed $5,000.

Fingerprints were obtained at the scene, and they have been sent to a crime lab for comparison, Boswell said. An investigation is continuing, while officials follow up leads.

Anyone with information is encouraged to phone Crime Stoppers at 556-ARMY. Callers need not reveal their identity.
