Raffle to raise scholarship funds

Highland Arts Guild and Buchanan Arts and Crafts are sponsoring an art scholarship competition open to graduating seniors planning to pursue a career in art.

Faith Academy, Marble Falls, Burnet, Lampasas and Llano high school students are eligible.

Highland Lakes Art Guild will award $1,000 to the first-place winner, and Buchanan Arts and Crafts will award $300 to the second place winner.

An honorable-mention ribbon also will be presented.

Applicants must submit a portfolio of no more than three pieces of art work chosen by their art teacher, along with a letter of recommendation from the art teacher, and a short autobiography indicating career goals in conjunction with mentioning the art school or college of their choice.

Entries must be submitted to the Highland Lakes Art Guild, 318 Main St., Marble Falls, by April 23 at 5 p.m.

The public is invited to view the art scholarship collection April 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

An oil painting, donated by Jane Price, will benefit the scholarship fund.
