LHS student lauded for volunteer service

Miriam Weber
A Lampasas High School senior, Miriam Caitlin Weber, was named a winner of a Presidential Volunteer Service Award. She was nominated by the Boys & Girls Club of Lampasas.

This is a national award chosen by a council appointed directly by President George W. Bush. Purpose of the award is to recognize those who give selflessly through volunteerism.

Ms. Weber received the award signed by the president at a recent Boys & Girls Club banquet. She was nominated by Cindy Harris, unit director, and Delores Tower- Linton, program director.

"Ms. Weber has generously given over 900 total hours of service to the Boys & Girls Club by coaching sports teams, teaching art classes and reading to youth," said Mrs. Linton. "Her leadership should be an example that sets a precedent for others in the community."

The LHS senior plans to attend the University of Texas in the fall.
