Needle Art, Quilt Show winners are selected

Zell Cook's Barnyard quilt placed second in the quilt division of the Needle Art & Quilt Show.
Joyce Lucas, chairman of the Lampasas Needle Art and Quilt Show, presented awards to winners of the 2008 show at the culmination of the two-day event.

More than 180 items were entered by 72 people this year.

Visitors came from across the state, including Fort Worth, Austin, San Angelo and East Texas, to view the antique and contemporary quilts and needle art entered.

People's Choice winners follow:

Quilts:

1. Lynn Carlson. 2. Zell Cook. 3. Fran Disharoon.

Needle art:

1. Faye Wear. 2. Judith Reinke. 3. Laura Goodwin-Jones.

Children:

First Baptist Church first- and second-grade Sunday School classes, entered by Judy Smith.

The raffle quilt, made by Joyce Lucas, was presented to Dorothy Berg.

A raffle afghan, made by Susan Detrick, was awarded to Mike Lock.

A knitted, beaded bag, made by Phyllis Poehlmann, went to Judy Smith.

The Lampasas Needle Art and Quilt Show is a fund-raising event for Keystone Square Museum, a non-profit organization.
Faye Wear's entry was selected tops in the needle art division. It is displayed by her daughter, Dianna Hodges.
Lynn McClure's entry took the first-place ribbon in the quilt category.
