The Lampasas County Commissioners Court and the Lampasas City Council on Monday agreed to share the cost of a new animal control facility, expected to cost about $300,000.

The facility, which will hold animals impounded in the county, likely will be located near the city's wastewater treatment plant. The county has been using Lampasas Veterinary Clinic on Farm-to-Market Road 580 East, but the clinic will not provide impoundment services after May 31.

Commissioners were still discussing animal control plans as of press time Monday. A full report will appear in an upcoming edition of the Lampasas Dispatch Record.
