Cattle Auction

The report from the March 19 sale at Lampasas Cattle Auction is as follows.

Cattle and calves: Estimated receipts 297 compared to 409 last week and 699 last year. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers steady to firm; slaughter cows $1-$3 higher; slaughter bulls steady.

Bulk supply medium and large 1-2 250 lb. to 700 lb. feeder steers and heifers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, couple 200 lbs., $1.58; 300-400 lb., $118-$128; 400-500 lb., $116-$126; 500- 600 lb., $108-$118.

Medium and large frame 2, 300-400 lb., $107-$115; 400- 500 lb., $95-$111; 500-600 lb., $92-$107; 600-700 lb., $97- $97.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 200-300 lb., $150- $136; $300-400 lb., $105- $117; 400-500 lb., $104-$111; 500-600 lb., $95-$103, light test; 600-700 lb., $88-$99.

Medium and large frame 2, 200-300 lb., $1.12-$1.17; 300- 400 lb., $90-$106; 400-500 lb., $90-$101; 500-600 lb., $88- $98.

Medium and large frame 3, 400-500 lb., $79-$82.

Slaughter cows: breakers, 75-80 percent lean, 1,200- 1,600 lb. high dressing, $49- $53 lb.; boners, 80-85 percent lean, 1,200-1,600 lb., average dressing, $50-$53 lb.; boners, 80-85 percent lean, 1,000- 1,200 lb., average dressing, $52-$59; lean, 85-90 percent lean, 1,200-1,600 lb., low dressing, $42-$50; lean, 85-90 percent, 1,000-1,200 lb., low dressing, $43-$50.

Slaughter bulls: yield grade 1-2, 1,200-1,600 lb., $62-$66; high dressing, 1,150-2,150 lb., $68-$69.

Replacement cows: medium and large 1-2, young to middle aged 1,000-1,250 lb. cows, 4 to 8 months bred, $625-$1,010 per head.
