Former county commissioner Ferguson dies

Graveside services for James Burrel "J.B" Ferguson, 86, of Bellville, TX, formerly of Lampasas, are March 21, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lampasas.

Visitation will precede the service March 21 from 9-11 a.m. at Briggs-Gamel-Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel in Lampasas.

Mr. Ferguson died March 17 in Bellville.

He was born Feb. 11, 1922, in Post, where he completed high school. On Dec. 21, 1940, he married his wife, Emily, and she preceded him in death.

Mr. Ferguson served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He also held the post of Lampasas County commissioner for Precinct 2 for 28 years until his retirement in December 1986.

Survivors include a daughter, Judy Cole, and husband, Tony, of Bellville; two sons, Larry Ferguson, and wife, Saralyn, of Glen Rose, and Mike Ferguson, and wife, Teresa, of Waxahachie; eight grandchildren; and six greatgrandchildren.
