In girls' singles, Abby Peterson lost in the second round, but she won out to capture fifth place.

"Abby played more aggressive in this tournament and is improving," Peiser said.

"When her practices improve, so will her close matches."

The mixed doubles team of Meredith Lane/Cody Self was pulled up from the junior varsity an went 2-2 on the day.

"These two will be playing varsity next year and will be real assets to the team," the coach said.

The boys' doubles team of Stan Smith/Jesse Cox finished sixth.

Laura Terrazas, Chris Naley, Lillie Davis and Josh Tucker also competed for LHS.

"Some think winning the tournament is a good goal to set, but for others, it is about improving your game one match at a time," Peiser said.

In junior varsity action, Becca Baker finished third, Kristine Smith/Macy McPherson won consolation and Paige Jones/Michelle Morris placed fifth.

Garth Jones went 2-2, while Nick Baker, McKenzie Myrick and Alyssaa Castle/Katrina Salazar went 1-1, and Clay Garrett/Dylan Ham went 1-2.
