CTC offers non-credit courses

The Central Texas College Continuing Education Department continues registration for its spring semester of non-credit classes. A variety of courses including exercise, photography, arts and crafts and cooking are available.

Tennis Doubles Challenge: This tournament is open to the first 10 teams and will feature men's, women's and mixed-doubles play. Each team will play at least two matches which consist of one 10- game superset.

Mixed doubles will be played Friday from 6-8 p.m.; men's doubles will be Saturday from 9-11 a.m.; and women's doubles will be follow Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. Cost is $6 for one event or $8 for two events.

Yoga: Class focuses on strength and balance movements designed to increase flexibility and reduce stress. Class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, March 25 to April 17, 5:45- 6:45 p.m. Cost is $26.

Matting and Framing: Learn how to cut glass, cut matte boards and assemble frames and matted art work. The course also includes different approaches to two- and three-dimensional art pieces. Class meets Friday and again March 28, 10 a.m. to noon. Cost is $16.

Glass Mosaic: Make beautiful stained glass mosaic items for your garden. Learn how to use a glass cutter, mosaic cutter, pliers to shape glass shards and grouting techniques. Class will meet March 28, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $18 plus the cost of the mosaic kit.

Basic Photography: Course covers how to use a film/digital 35mm SLR camera. Learn about lighting, techniques for taking better pictures and overcoming common problems. Class includes several field trips. Class meets Mondays, March 24 to April 28, 6-9 p.m. Cost is $49.

Salsa: Learn how to feel the rhythm while getting the basics of this Latin dance favorite. Class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays, March 25 to April 3, 7-9 p.m. Cost is $31.

Conversational Japanese (intermediate course): Class emphasizes reading and comprehension of Japanese characters as well as the ability to use a Japanese dictionary. Class meets Mondays and Wednesdays, March 31 to April 23, 6:30- 8:30 p.m. Cost is $41.

Cupcake-O-Rama: This new class will change the way you think about cupcakes. Bake, decorate and create an assortment of cupcakes to satisfy any sweet tooth. Class meets March 29, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Cost is $41.
