Parties select delegates for county conventions
      L ampasas County Republican and Democratic parties will hold their county conventions March 29. The Lampasas County Republican Party convention will convene at 6:30 p.m. in the district courtroom, and the Lampasas County Democratic Party will meet at 10 a.m. at the Senior Citizens Center.

Commissioners tighten junkyard, vehicle ordinances

      The Lampasas County Commissioners Court last week unanimously approved a redraft of the county's junkyard ordinance and voted 5-0 to pass an ordinance limiting the number of unregistered and inoperable vehicles property owners may keep.

Kempner earmarks funds for City Hall

      A full agenda faced the Lometa City Council last week when it convened for its March meeting. In open forum, members reviewed the final survey on five acres of the city's unused dumping grounds to be donated to Lampasas County for a Precinct 2 barn site.

      Lampasas High School junior Stephanie Smith deadlifted 310 pounds on her way to a seventh-place finish at the State Powerlifting Meet Saturday in Killeen. She lifted a total of 760 pounds in the bench press, deadlift and squat combined.
