Cattle Auction The report from the March 12 sale at Lampasas Cattle Auction is as follows. Cattle and calves: Estimated receipts 409 compared to 510 last week and 320 last year. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers $3-$5 lower; slaughter bulls and cows $2-$3 lower. Bulk supply medium and large 1- 2 250 lb. to 700 lb. feeder steers and heifers. Feeder steers and heifers accounted for 90 percent and slaughter cows and bulls 10 percent of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 60 percent of the run and heifers 40 percent. Steers and heifers over 600 lbs. totaled 20 percent. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300-400 lb., $121-$129; 400-500 lb., $116-$126; 500-600 lb., $108-$116; 600-700 lb., $95- $106; 700-800 lb. yearlings, $91- $95. Medium and large frame 2, 300- 400 lb., $111-$122; 500-600 lb., $94-$109. Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 300-400 lb., $107-$118; 400-500 lb., $107-$114; 500-600 lb., $100-$110; 600-700 lb., $88- $96; 700-800 lb., $81-$90. Medium and large frame 2, 300- 400 lb., $90-$104; 400-500 lb., $97-$105; 500-600 lb., $92-$100. Slaughter cows: breakers, 75- 80 percent lean, 1,200-1,600 lb. high dressing, $520-$53 lb.; boners, 80-85 percent lean, 1,200- 1,600 lb., average dressing, $51- $55 lb., high dressing, to $57 lb.; boners, 80-85 percent lean, 1,000- 1,200 lb., average dressing, $47- $55. Slaughter bulls: yield grade 1- 2, 1,400-1,900 lb., $60-$66; high dressing, 1,500-2,100 lb., $68- $70.50; low dressing, 1,000-1,400 lb., $54-$57. Replacement cows: medium and large 1-2, young to middle aged 900-1,300 lb. cows, 4 to 8 months bred, $650-$760 per head. |
