The Funds for Foster Kids Golf Tournament is scheduled for March 28 at Hancock Park Golf Course.

The shotgun-start tournament, which is sponsored by the Child Protective Services Board of Lampasas County, will start at 1 p.m. The four-person scramble costs $220 per team, and there is a limit of 22 teams. Cart, sack lunch and catered dinner are included with price of entry fee. The registration deadline is March 25.

SOFTBALL

There is a co-ed softball tournament scheduled for San Saba on March 29 to raise money to start a youth football league.

RUNNING

The Liberty Hill Run at the Ranch Fun Run is scheduled for April 6.

The event, which features a 5K run and a 1-mile walk, will be held at the Stonewall Ranch at 315 Stonewall Blvd. in Liberty Hill.

The race costs $15 per runner for the 5K if runners register online at www.runtex.com before April 2. The cost is $20 per runner after April 2. The one-mile walk is $10.

Registration fee includes a Tshirt, a race bib and refreshments after the race (T-shirt not guaranteed for race-day entrants).

SEMI-PRO FOOTBALL

Hutto's Texas Bulldogs football team has scheduled open tryouts on Saturday at the old Hippo Stadium off Highway 79.

The Bulldogs are members of the World Football League, which has semiprofessional teams across the country.

Participants must be at least 18 years old. Registration is scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m. and tryouts at 9 a.m.

There is a $35 nonrefundable tryout fee due before or at registration.
