Hopson named TABC All-Region

After recording one of the most prolific individual basketball seasons in Lampasas High school history, junior Heath Hopson was selected to the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches All-Region IV Team.

Hopson, who was the primary offensive weapon for Scott Harrelson's 19-12 Badgers, is one of just 20 Class 4A players in the region selected to the team.

The 6'4" front-court player will file the honor away with the others he already has garnered this season. He was selected unanimously to the first team of the All-District 25- 4A squad and Academic All- District 25-4A.

He also was selected to three all-tournament teams, including a most valuable player selection at the Lorena Tournament, a tournament the Badgers won.

"I am very happy for the accolades Heath received this year," Harrelson said. "Heath really improved over the summer last year, playing in several leagues and going to several camps. He established himself as the best offensive player in the area."

Hopson led the Badgers with 20.2 points and 9.1 rebounds per game.

"Heath has balance in all facets of his life, and he will continue to be successful because he is willing to avoid anything that will upset that balance," Harrelson said. "If he can maintain the work ethic and balance in his life, he will write his own ticket for the future."
