Filing ends; three elections to be held Filing for City Council seats in Lampasas, Lometa and Kempner, and school board positions in Lampasas and Lometa ended Monday. Early voting will run April 28 through May 6, with elections set for May 10. Following is a listing of those running for office. Lampasas City Council: Up for election are the seats of Debbie Fuller, Place 3; Wanda Bierschwale, Place 4; and Les Gerhardt, Place 5. All three incumbents have filed for their seats, and Dayton Carpenter has filed to run for Mrs. Bierschwale's seat. Lometa City Council: Seats to be on the ballot in May include those of the mayor, held by David Ivey who was appointed after the death of Mike McGarry, and at-large seats of Cynthia Kirby, George Watson and Toni Torres. The seat filled by Kyle Walton when Ivey was appointed mayor also is up for election. Ivey has filed for the mayor's post, and Walton, Watson and Mrs. Kirby have filed for their seats. They are being challenged by Mario Maldonado, Betty Poe and Chuck Lymber. Mrs. Torres did not file for re-election. Kempner City Council: Positions that were open for balloting were those of the mayor, Gene Isenhour; Paul Cook, Place 1; and Melba Vandeveer, Place 5. All three filed for their posts, and with no challengers, the city of Kempner will not have to hold an election this year. Lampasas ISD Board of Trustees: Seats to be filled in May include Place 6, Wesley Crow, and Place 7, James Briggs. Both filed for their seats. Former board member Luther Hensley filed to run against Crow. Lometa ISD Board of Trustees: Two at-large positions are up for election. They are held by Stacy Pauly and Larry Morrison. Both incumbents have filed for re-election, and since there are no opponents, an election will not be held. |
