LHS band students take honors in recent UIL contests

The Lampasas High School Badger Band participated in a recent Region 8 UIL solo and ensemble contest in Temple and Killeen.

Overall, the band earned 52 firstdivision medals, 20 second-divisions and six third-divisions.

Additionally, eight students advanced to the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest to be at the University of Texas in May. They include Alexi Bulloch, Carter Burks, Johnathon Burns, Emily Demmel, Amanda Garrison, Daniel Lumpkin, Alan Sapien and Caleb Seibert.

The following students earned superior ratings:

Flute soloists: Christen Barnum, Haley Brown, Shelby Davis, Jamie Dye, Meredith Lane, Lore Nightingale and Lisa Orner.

Clarinet soloists: Alexi Bulloch and Amanda Garrison.

Bass clarinet soloist: Tiffany McNatt.

Contra-bass clarinet soloist: Elizabeth Smith.

Alto saxophone soloists: Emily Demmel, Angelo Hardy, Kaylee Hummer, Jessica Kriegel, Marie Paddie and Javier Renteria.

Tenor saxophone soloists: Daniel Lumpkin and Jackie Fetterhoff.

Baritone saxophone soloists: Aaron Mendoza and Andrew Thurman.

Trumpet soloists: Josh Geagley, Jacob Hummer, Morgan Knowles, Jordan Mason and Jennifer Meyer.

French horn soloists: Jessie Arbolay, Beth Barbier, Adam Lumbley, Olaf Meyer, Lora Patterson, Allison Sneed and Stefanie Welker.

Euphonium soloists: Kelsey Grant and Mark Patterson.

Tuba soloists: Kyle Austin and Alan Sapien.

String bass solo: Michael Rios. Timpani solo: Kahea Brown. Snare drum solo: Cord Jackson.

Clarinet trio: Rebecca Garza, Stephanie Johnston and Megan Young.

Saxophone trio: Alexi Bulloch, Emily Demmel and Daniel Lumpkin.

Saxophone quartet: Rafael Cazares, Jackie Fetterhoff, Javier Renteria and Chris Sanders.

Trombone trio: Carter Burks, Johnathon Burns and Caleb Seibert.
