Roughriders fare well at judging competition

Lampasas 4-H Roughriders traveled to San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo recently to compete in the horse judging competition. Two senior teams and one junior team participated.

The senior team of Shannon Lucas, Apryl Crusan and Shannon O'Keefe took first place in District 7 and seventh-place overall.

The senior team of Shelby Faught, Garrett Lucas, Renee Bendert and Lauren Maupin took second-place honors for the district and ninth-place overall.

The junior team of Alex Scheller, Rebecca Phelps, Amber Leigh and Abigail Chace earned a first-place ribbon for District 7 and placed 11th overall.

In individual placings, Shannon Lucas took first in district and sixth overall. Crusan placed second, and Maupin was third in district, with both tying for the 26th/27th overall positions.

O'Keefe took home the fifth-place district ribbon, earning 33rd place overall, while Garrett Lucas captured the sixth-place district ribbon and placed 39th overall.

Faught placed seventh in district and 40th overall, and Bendert ended in eighth place in district and 42nd overall.

The first-place senior team will compete at the state level June 11 at State Roundup at Texas A&M in College Station at the Freeman Arena.
