LHS netters compete at Cove

PHTOT BY KENNETH PEISER The LHS varsity girls' doubles tandem of Amy Johnson and Alex Miller finished third at the Copperas Cove Tournament on Tuesday. The varsity and junior varsity will play at Belton on Friday.
The Lampasas High School varsity and junior varsity tennis teams competed at the Copperas Cove Tournament on Thursday.

In girls' doubles, the team of Amy Johnson/Alex Miller finished third, and Ashley Perkins/Kayla Krueger finished fifth.

"Amy and Alex poached and hustled," LHS head coach Kenneth Peiser said. "They were disappointed with their finish, knowing they could have played even better and made it to the finals."

In girls' singles, Meredith Lane advanced to the consolation finals, and Brandyl Brooks went 2-2.

In mixed doubles, Abby Peterson/ Zach McKenzie won the consolation title, and Stan Smith/Ciara Salazar went 1-3.

In boys' singles, Dustin Hause went 2-2, and Jesse Cox went 1-3.

In boys' doubles, Cody Self/Chris Naley got their first varsity experience.

In junior varsity action, Jessica Baker finished second, Nick Baker third and McKenzie Myrick fourth. The team of Macy McPherson/ Kristine Smith won the consolation title.
