Couple exchange vows in outdoor ceremony

Jamie and David Garrett
Jamie Lea Morris and David Key Garrett Jr., both of Lampasas, exchanged wedding vows in an Oct. 27, 2007, afternoon ceremony on Deer Creek at Tanyard Ranch in northern Burnet County.

The double-ring ceremony was performed by Pastor Mark Barnard of Naruna Baptist Church.

The bride is the daughter of Phillip and Bobbie Morris of Bend. She is the granddaughter of Lola and the late Lamar Morris of Bend, and the late James and Nadalene Pittman of Kempner and Lampasas.

The groom is the son of Kim and the late David Key Garrett of Lampasas. He is the grandson of Bonilee and the late Gavin Garrett of Lampasas, and the late Bill and Reba Timberlake of Little Rock, Ark.

Music filled the creek canyon as the bride walked to "Have You Ever Been in Love."

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a champagne silk duchess, satin A-line gown by Alvina Valenta. The gown featured an ivory Alencon lace bodice with a tip of the shoulder "V"-neck front and back.

Silk duchess satin draped into a side waist with ruching and side detail.

To complement her gown, the bride carried an assortment of tulips, roses, calla lilies, ranunculus and dahlias in fall reds, oranges and yellows. A ribbon made from the bride's dress embroidered with the couple's monogram adorned the bouquet.

Honor attendant was Allen Swaney of Lampasas.

Best man was David Rathman of Lampasas.

Ushers were Bradley Garrett, brother of the groom; Wade Hendrix; Charlie Pratus; Bradley Neely; Clay Greiner; Rusty McLean; Mickey McLean; Kyle Butts; Chad Craft; and Robert Nixon, brother-in-law of the bride.

The groom, wedding party and ushers wore bird's nest boutonnieres of twigs, moss and berries.

Register attendants for the ceremony were Amanda Morris and Deidra Morris-Nixon, sisters of the bride, and Carrie Garrett, sister of the groom.

Attending the register for the reception was Autumn Edwards, the bride's cousin.

Following the ceremony, the bride's parents hosted a reception at the Ed Moor barn on Tanyard Ranch. A catered fish fry dinner was served, followed by a dessert of brownies and ice cream.

Dancing followed with music by Todd Jeffries under lighted stars made by the bride's father.

Reception tables were decorated with ivory cloths and hunter green and bronze organza centers with fall fresh flower centerpieces.

Adding to the table decor were metal cut-out "G's" and stars. Antique glass insulators provided by the groom's mother held tealight candles.

After a wedding trip to Cancun, Mexico, the couple is at home in Lampasas.

The groom's mother hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Hancock Springs Hostess House the night before the wedding.

Houseparty members were Mindi Pratus, Jan McLean, Sherry McBryde, Tina Loeffler, Libby Bluntzer and Pam Henniger.
